Get to Know Me! (and My Mission Statement)

Hello, Friends! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I am just so excited to be writing the blog’s first official post by introducing myself a little better!

I thought that this first post would be the perfect opportunity to share a little more about myself, and explain more about what my mission statement for life - and this blog - is!

For the sake of this post not coming off as an ice breaker - “hi… my name is Paislye… and my favorite ice cream flavor is birthday cake…” (yes, that is how my name is spelled, and yes that is actually my favorite ice cream flavor) - I am going to give you a few highlights of myself!

So, obviously I love sharing my interests, but another big reason I decided to take a leap of faith and start a blog is because I also really enjoy writing. English, in fact, is my favorite school subject, and the one that I excelled in most. I have always had an act for writing - essays, poems, slogans/catchy sayings, and even a few songs. Which brings me to my hobbies!

I am an at-home singer/songwriter. My dad taught me how to play the guitar when I was thirteen, and writing songs was something I figured out myself not long after. I am no professional by any means, but it is a hobby that I have never fallen out of love with and one I do not think I ever will.

I also enjoy all kinds of fashion. I may not be a professional at this either, but I am more than willing to give myself the title for being a fashionista - at least in my head I am one.

I love scrolling on instagram and pinterest to find inspiration for outfits, thrifting, shopping, collaging clothing pieces together on my phone,

and helping my friends and family decide what to wear as well. I just adore fashion so much! 

I also really appreciate and have a passion for architectural and interior design, especially for homes. From a very young age I started sketching make-shift blueprints on scrap paper. I even begged my mom to download an app on her computer so that I could design homes and furnish them. I would spend endless hours constructing and finishing one “dream” home after the other! 

I greatly enjoy traveling and embarking on new adventures, but deep down I am a homebody. I definitely delight in being a “homemaker.” I enjoy decorating of course, but even more than that I relish in creating delicious dishes and baked goods - I have always been drawn to the kitchen. For some, cooking or baking is stressful, but for me that is what I do to relieve stress - my family enjoys this very much. Whether it is a recipe from an old cookbook, from my mom, from online, or one I am making as I go. I almost always end up satisfied with a heaping side of dishes! 

Those are my main, consistent hobbies, and what I will likely post about the most. But, I also love all the girly things too - makeup, hair, skincare, nails, and more - and will make additional posts about them too. I am a girly-girl at heart! Besides those listed above, I have experimented with other hobbies, such as leather tooling, gardening, reading, etc. And although I enjoy some of those activities still, they have never stuck quite like the rest or at all.

I hope that gives you all a better understanding of myself and why I chose to blog. Now, for what I am really excited to share! 

I come from a christian family, raised in church, and brought up on christian values and principles. Part of my testimony, however, is that I did not always live that way. For most of my youth and teen years I resented the Lord and lived in opposition of what His word commands. But by His grace, I rededicated my life to Christ and have been living with the mission statement I am about to share! 

When I started living for the Lord again, I prayed and asked God to reveal His purpose for my life. I desperately wanted to know what it was that He had in store. But, slowly I learned that God does not always reveal Himself all at once. That He usually opens doors for us and leads us, but His purpose is far greater than our own understanding. So, I quit asking God to reveal His purpose and, instead, started praying for God to give me my purpose. This is when my life got a whole lot sweeter. 

Matthew 22:37-39

“Jesus replied ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 

So, my mission statement - my purpose - with everything in my life is to, ultimately, Love God and Love People. With every word, every post, every action, and every breath, my purpose in life is to always love and honor the Lord, and, just as importantly, love and honor people. And I am so excited to intertwine my mission statement into my new blog!
